What People Say

Pension Ivatan is the newest inn in the island. A literal uphill climb leads to the best rooms which give a perfect vista of the town of Basco overlooking the Kanyuyan Beach and Port and Basco Lighthouse on the right.

my batanes plans 2007/08/18 15:59
i’ve started my batanes trip funds and have cut back on my two wallet busters - starbucks and sbarro visits. i don’t cook and rarely eat home, but we gotta change our ways people. hehehe. i may save enough to get there by late october or early november. wuhoo! batanes here i come. by the way, what should i expect to see on those months?

i’m just crossing my fingers and hoping that typhoons don’t ruin my plans.

You picked the perfect time for a visit Miguel. October and November are Fiesta months and we look forward to showing you around town so you to get to experience how Ivatans P-A-R-T-Y, Islander Style.

October
October 1 - Brgy. Sinakan Barrio Fiesta, Sabtang (Sta. Teresita de Niño)
October 7 - Itbayat Town Fiesta (Sta. Maria de Mayan)
October 7 - Brgy. Tukon/Chanarian (Basco) Barrio Fiesta
October 26 - Brgy. Sumnanga Barrio Fiesta, Sabtang (San Luis Beltran)

November
November 4 - Mahatao Town Fiesta (San Carlos Borromeo)
November 27- Brgy. Itbud Barrio Fiesta (Nuestra Señora da la Medalla Milagrosa)

An added treat for you to see are the flocks of migratory birds - valichits (small brown birds local to Batanes) and the kuyabs (grey-faced buzzard) - who stay in Batanes for a few days before they continue to fly to warmer areas.

Hello, Daniel75.

February to June is usually the fishing season. There's nothing like these months to enjoy sun, sea, and F-I-S-H!!! Get in touch with us and we can arrange activities with local fishermen so you can get to experience the thrills of catching dibang (flying fish) and arayu (dolphin fish).

We can't wait to hear from you again.
